Soft Drum Sander
The Soft Drum Sanding System is the best system for sanding walking sticks, canes and any other project that needs a smooth rounded surface. It will conform to the contour of the stick, leaving you with a nice, smooth finish in much less time than other systems. If you are using a slow speed Bench Grinder you can add the 191-1000 Mandrel (sold separately) to the left end of the grinder for a double Soft Drum Sander setup.
The Soft Drum Sander is a sanding system that we have developed in house and the components are all made in the USA. The Mandrel is machined from solid aluminum and will fit any 8” Bench Grinder with a 16mm Shaft or it will also fit a 5/8” smooth shaft motor, it will even fit a ½" smooth shaft motor with the optional adapter sleeve. If you purchase the Adapter Shaft and Sleeve it will fit any Drill style Chuck such as in a drill press or a lathe.
The Sanding Sleeve/Foam combination is made from one piece foam and heavy duty cloth backed sandpaper for long life and great service. The kit comes with the Mandrel, one 80 Grit Sleeve and one 120 Grit Sleeve. The Sleeves are compatible with the previous Mandrel that we have been selling for many years.
This system must be run at speeds no greater than 1725 RPM, this is the speed that most 8” Slow Speed Grinders run, if used on a high speed motor the foam and paper will not give adequate service life.
