Allen Goodman has over 35 years of carving experience both as a casual and production carver. He has been making knifes for over 20 years and has received feedback from many of the great carvers on how to make a knife that carvers would love. From the handles to the blades, Allen nailed it!

Goodman carving knives are made out of 1095 high carbon steel and hardened to 59/60 on the RC scale. These blades are thin and slightly flexible, yet they are durable and incredibly sharp. The curly maple handles are comfortable for most hands and have a non slippery finish. The blades are easy to maintain with just occasional stropping.

This knife has a 1 3/8" blade with a 5 1/4" curly maple handle.

Goodman Knives are high-quality knives and made one at a time. Limited quantities are available.

    Sharp and Flexible

There is so much to like. The handle fits my hand. The blade is scary sharp out of the box and holds an edge when carving basswood. I like the mild flex in the blade which helps in delicate areas for detailing. The blade has a flat grind profile and strops back up to scary sharp quickly. I own many other brands of knives but the Goodman is my first choice. Highly recommend it. Other brands are close but what sets this knife apart is that it holds an edge longer and strops back up easily. I demand a sharp edge and like that this knife keeps me carving longer between strops.

A great companion to the big brother 1 3/4. Put a little oil finish and the Maple figure really pops.
