Diamond Willow Walking Stick

(2 reviews) Write a Review

These come from Minnesota, and frequently have diamond-like indentations (minimum of 3 diamonds) which will show deep brown when the bark is peeled from the sticks, contrasting to the creamy white surface of the wood. The smaller sticks are best peeled and finished whereas the larger sticks have more wood available to carve and decorate. These sticks can easily be cut down to cane length (usually about 36"). These walking sticks are approximately 1"-2" diameter and 57" length. SOLD UNFINISHED AND UNSEASONED.

    Beautiful but quirky

I've made both walking canes and hiking sticks from these diamond willow blanks. They're beautiful, and a pleasure to work with. But they're so irregular it's sometimes hard to get the best 'grip' section to align with the tip. Sometimes I end up having to cut away a part that has the most feature, simply because it wouldn't be comfortable to hold when the stick is finished. But we all love a challenge, right?
