SMALL OBSIDIAN BLADE
During the time when a cutting tool was made from some form of stone, Obsidian was a highly valued material. It was chipped and flaked into arrowheads, knives, spear points and many other implements with razor sharp edges. Obsidian was so highly valued that men would travel hundreds of miles on foot to gather enough for a supply of tools. Obsidian is generally black but may contain other colors such as gray or reddish brown to produce a marbled effect. These blades are handmade from American Obsidian using the primitive knapping process where chips are removed one at a time from a piece of stone, gradually shaping the piece into the required shape. Each blade is unique. Combine a blade with an antler or wood handle for a collectible handmade piece of original artwork. Small blade length is between 2 1/2-3".
