SASSAFRAS WALKING STICK

Sassafras makes a light weight, strong walking stick and it is easy to carve or decorate. The wood is a light brown with orange inner bark and dark outer bark. Approximately 1" to 1 1/4" diameter and 53" long.

    I thought I would be turning this cane in a lathe, but I talked with a person at Treeline who said they are not straight enough for that. He said keep the bark on and lightly sand the bark to enhance the color, then treat with oil. The stick is straight-ish and is long enough for a hiking stick. Very nice, just not what I expected.

    Excellent quality, great instructions to reduce the stick to size and convert to a cane. I’m very pleased and get many compliments on the cane overall and the choice of wood.

    Very nice stick. The colors are amazing on the bark.
